The People's Advocate Welcomes Law Students: Young People, Our Main Partner In The Protection Of Human Rights

The People's Advocate welcomes Law students: Young people, our main partner in the protection of human rights

The Ombudsman Institution aims to increase the number of complaints coming from young people, so a group of law students from the University of Tirana were welcomed to our premises. This meeting served as a platform for dialogue on the role of the institution in protecting fundamental freedoms and the need for an active engagement of young people in seeking public accountability.

During the conversation, the Ombudsman, Mr. Endrit Shabani, introduced the students to the priorities of his mandate, focusing in particular on the process of modernizing services. Mr. Shabani emphasized that increasing the speed of handling complaints and digitizing processes are essential steps to guarantee citizens an effective and real-time response.

The students’ interest focused on key aspects of the functioning of the institution, such as: the level of their implementation by state administration bodies or the need for improvements in the regulatory framework that would strengthen the authority of the Ombudsman in relation to abusive institutions.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Shabani praised the critical approach of future lawyers, inviting them to see this institution as their first ally.

"We want young people to be the first to knock on the Ombudsman's door. Your trust is the engine that drives us towards a more transparent administration and a fairer state," said Mr. Shabani.
