The Ombudsman, Endrit Shabani, received the UNICEF Representative in Albania, Murat Sahin. The meeting discussed the priorities of cooperation between the two institutions to protect the rights of children in Albania.

Mr. Shabani described the exploitation of children on the streets as a failure of institutions and stressed that any official who allows their exploitation should be held accountable.

He also addressed the need to protect children from the dangers of the digital age, such as online bullying through social networks.

Mr. Sahin expressed appreciation for the work of the Ombudsman and offered support through new programs in the framework of European integration.

Shabani welcomed the extension of the support program for Albania by UNICEF and together with Mr. Sahin agreed on a joint action plan to protect the best interests of children.
