The Ombudsman, Mr. Endrit Shabani, received in an official meeting the Ambassador of Switzerland to Albania, Her Excellency, Ms. Ruth Huber. This meeting served as a platform to reconfirm the close and strategic partnership between the Ombudsman institution and the Swiss government, which continues to be one of the most committed donors in our country for the protection and promotion of human rights.

During the conversation, Ambassador Huber expressed Switzerland's full readiness to continue supporting the institution through various development programs. Special attention was paid to projects at the local government level, with the aim of strengthening accountability and increasing the integrity of public services to citizens.

Mr. Shabani presented the Ambassador with a detailed overview of the institutions that exhibit problems in providing services to citizens. In this context, he proposed that the Swiss government consider the possibility of conditioning funding for those municipalities that do not cooperate with the Ombudsman.

"It is imperative that local government units be cooperative, especially those that refuse to implement our recommendations in the protection of individual rights and freedoms. Transparency and law enforcement should be a prerequisite for financial support," said Mr. Shabani.

In conclusion, both parties agreed to further deepen cooperation, as a guarantee for the consolidation of the highest democratic standards and the fulfillment of Albania's European aspirations.
