The Ombudsman respects the decision of the Constitutional Court, which—at the request of a group of MPs—reviewed the procedure followed by the Assembly for the election of the institution's head and found it to be in compliance with the Constitution.

Throughout this matter, the Ombudsman maintained impartiality toward both the petitioners and the Assembly, refraining from taking a stance on the merits of the case and deferring entirely to the Court, which holds the authority for the final interpretation of the Constitution.

Today’s decision resolves any questions regarding the election procedure.
