During his official visit to Pristina, the Albanian Ombudsman, Endrit Shabani, was received by his counterpart, Naim Qelaj.

This meeting marks another concrete step in our joint journey towards strengthening the rule of law and raising human rights standards in both our countries.

With Mr. Qelaj, we shared the same will to deepen inter-institutional cooperation, especially through the exchange of experiences and best practices for the rapid and successful handling of citizens' complaints.

Fundamental freedoms can be better protected if we work with joint strategies for the promotion of human rights in Albania and Kosovo.

We underlined the call that the Ombudsman institutions must maintain institutional independence, increase their oversight role as a pillar of democracy.

Mr. Qelaj accompanied Mr. Shabani in other productive meetings with senior leaders of institutions in Kosovo.

We continue our joint efforts to ensure that our citizens feel represented and protected in the face of state institutions.
