Protest Of February 20, Ombudsman Monitoring On The Ground During Its Development
The Ombudsman Institution has monitored yesterday's protests and police actions during the night, with a focus on guaranteeing human rights and the legality of the accompaniment.
From the inspections at the Tirana police stations and the Trauma Hospital, it results that a total of 41 people have been escorted, including 6 minors. Of this total, 11 people have been arrested, while the others have been released. In addition, 2 cases of serious injuries (fractures to the head and face) have been found and are being treated in hospital.
The Ombudsman has documented every case of exceeding competences or abuse of power. This monitoring will be reflected in a detailed report for the competent bodies, in order to ensure full legal accountability.
